DO-230M Standards for Airport Security Access Control Systems
The revision of this standard addresses Cyber Security, Credentialing, and Biometrics. Revision N is in work with more updates including consideration of Artificial Intelligence for 2025.
DO-377B – Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) for C2 Link Systems Supporting Operations of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems in U.S. Airspace. This document presents and justifies the MASPS for a Command-and-Control Link System used to monitor and control a UAS.
DO-381A – MOPS for GBSS for Traffic Surveillance. This document contains requirements for the Ground Based Surveillance System (GBSS) for Traffic Surveillance systems implemented with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) transiting and performing extended operations in Class C, D, E[1] and G airspace, along with transiting Class B airspace.
DO-398A – Operational Services and Environment Definition (OSED) for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Detect and Avoid Systems (DAA). This OSED provides a basis for assessing and establishing operational, safety, performance, and interoperability requirements for DAA systems.
DO-403 – System Performance and Interoperability Requirements for Non-Cooperative UAS Detection Systems. This document is intended to summarize the different aspects of the Counter UAS (C-UAS) system and to have a better understanding of the C-UAS system components at the detection level.

Standards & Guidance Materials
RTCA produces minimum performance standards and guidance materials that are requested by the FAA and become a partial basis of FAA regulations for aviation systems and equipage. They are produced by committees of volunteers representing the interested and relevant stakeholders. Since 1935, RTCA has had a long and successful track record of producing high-quality standards, including the following:
- Operational Services and Environment Definition (OSED)
Documenting the environment in which systems and equipment will operate - Operational, Safety & Performance Requirements (SPR)
Safety Assessments and Ops Performance Assessments (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) - Interoperability Requirements (IRR)
Assuring all components of the Air Traffic Architecture (airborne and ground-based components; pilots and controllers; domestic and international) are all able to work together seamlessly to provide safe and efficient air travel and services - Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS)
Assuring end-to-end, systems will perform their intended functions within a defined airspace - Minimum Operational Performance Standards (MOPS)
Assuring equipment will perform its intended functions
Task Force Reports
From time to time, when the FAA has a unique and immediate need for input from a broad spectrum of the aviation community on a specific issue, they will ask RTCA to establish a Task Force. RTCA will produce reports through our Policy Committees and Task Groups, documenting the industry consensus on significant operational and policy issues related to the modernization of the nation’s air traffic management system. Since our inception in 1935, five such Task Forces have been established and have produced reports with actionable recommendations. For more information on ordering these documents, click here.
